Juneathon the third

Another 3 mile dawg walk around the reserve this morning at 05.30.

I love going out at this time in the morning. I inadvertently grabbed a handfull of something that smelt of aniseed. I'm not sure if it's wild fennel. I'm not sure if I made 'wild fennel' up!
It was too early to try and yoink it out of the ground, but I might give it a whirl tomorrow.

Saw ducks, Egrets, ?? linnets and the usual herd of Highland cows. I really do want a Highland cow of my own!

My blog needs some photos....will try and fix that tomorrow too!

9 miles logged so far.

Have a good day x

Juneathon the second

Another 3 mile brisk mimble around the Nature reserve with my neighbour Diana and the dawg!

Lard Loungers fat club meeting tonight showed a 3lb loss, thanks to the above efforts. I've been low carbing which makes me feel physically much better.

I've ordered a wireless doo-dah for my bike which will be utilised on my days off walking, so that I can keep up my Juneathon plan.

Logged and blogged.

Over and out!

Juneathon the first

3 miles around the local nature reserve at a brisk walking pace!

Saw cattle and Egrets this morning, but forgot camera! Will take this tomorrow.

Not inspiring, but it's a start!

Juneathon

It is with some trepidation that I have signed up for Juneathon.

Last time I signed up, we were in the middle of packing our stuff to move to our new house, and I really didn't have the time to jog, blog or log anything.
Now things are a little more settled, I plan to do something each day of June, although it's more than likely not going to be running at the moment. This is in the most part due to the fact that my derriere has grown to the size of a small planet!

I'm logging my eats again with my WW e-tool which should help, and my early morning walks although not too fast, must go some way to assisting with calorie burning.

DH will be in charge of packed lunches, and there will be no processed food in my lunchbox at all (apart from the pizza I'm going to make tonight, but that is all my own work with plenty of fresh veg as a topping!)

I plan to ride my bike when I get home from work for a couple of miles, making a total of about 90 mins of something per day.

I also have the best part of a 5,000 word assignment to complete by the 8th July!

Why am I sat here buggering about then??

I'll be lousy at leaving comments on peoples blogs, but I will try my hardest to say hi to everyone at least once over the month.

Good luck y'all xx

New start

Well we finally made it over to our new house about 2 months ago.
Since then it's been a blur of workmen, dust and hoovering. I won't bore you with the details, suffice to say that having no kitchen for 3 weeks meant ALOT of convenience food and take outs.
This has resulted in an upward trend on the scale, which is a real nuisance, but there we are....

I've started to get up early again, and go walking with my neighbour. We take El Mutt for a 3 mile stroll along the Bay at 05.30. The views are breathtaking. We see plenty of wild birds, seals, and my favourite, Highland cattle (cripes, they're huge!!).

DH has managed to lose 28lb recently, therefore I have put him in charge of meals from now on in.
I'm off on holiday at present, but BYOL will be resumed when I return to work, although I will miss my 'Two Chicks' omlette which I have for lunch. I love that stuff, and no gall bladder pain which usually accompanies anything 'eggy'. I use my Nicer Dicer (godsend) to chop all sorts of veggies for my omlette, and have it with a big salad.
I've been looking over on Bitchcakes blog for some really nice recipes. She is a vegan, which I am not, but her salad ideas are great, and she works wonders with a squash! She is an advocate for WW, and I'm happiest following their points system and using the e-tool tracker. I downloaded the app so that when I'm mobile, I can still track.

I'm also starting 'Lard Loungers' again (my own slimming club, run in my front room for some weighty pals) which should spur me along by introducing a little competition between me and my friends. We each have a journal to track food (I'll be doing mine with WW e-tools) and a weigh in. I issue 'Loser of the Week' certificates, and we pay 50p per week to weigh in. Members are allowed to use whatever healthy eating plan they like (let's face it...I've tried them all!), but I draw the line at limb amputation as a means to become 'Loser of the Week!

That's a very quick rundown of what's been going on here, but I'm going to try and blog a little more often and let you know where I am.

I hope you are all well xx

False start!

So that was the week that was!

It was my 44th birthday on Saturday, so I didn't track as much as I should have, and I ate some stuff I shouldn't have! I also drank my body weight in vodka and lemonade (diet, nach!!).
I also found out at work that I'm being had over which has not pleased me at all! I've been mega stressed out about it all (work, house move, job etc) and done my usual 'F**K everything' instead of dealing with it in a problem solving manner.

Once more I looked through a heap of blogs (whilst writing a grumpy letter to my boss), but I was eating home made coffee and walnut cake at the time. I made this beautiful cake found at

http://http//thegoddesskitchen.blogspot.com/2009/07/coffee-and-walnut-cake.html

Walnuts are good, right?

I can't begin to tell you how good it was!

I got out with Doug and Polly for a little walk, but with tbh, I've got less enthusiasm than a hoody in a job centre!

So Monday is here again, and short of an exchange of contracts on the house......I can't see the week getting better.

However................ I am not going to let this phase me! If I can track for 5 days and get off my arse for 3 night this week....I'll be happy!

Inspiration

One of the biggest inspirations to me is a lady called Sheryl. You'll probably know her....she has a style of her own, never sits still, and rides the coolest bike!

She is the author of
http://msbitchcakes.blogspot.com/
where you can read all about her latest conquests.

I've decided to pich one of her ideads, which is a 'What I'm Working On and Goals for Next Week', and here's what I'm going to try to do:

  • Track my points for 5 days
  • Go to the Gym with Lal 3 days
  • Make good food choices for 6 out of 7 days

I have been super lazy since we found out we were moving, and my elliptical trainer is buried under a mound of boxes! I hope that when we do eventually move, it's going to be a fresh start for both DH and me.

Taking the first step is always the hard part...........

Meh! (again!)

With regret, I had to stop the Janathon because life became a bit too hectic!

We have (hopefully) sold our house, and we're sitting amidst boxes containing all our worldly goods! There are only a few more bits and bobs to pack in the lounge, and the whole of the kitchen, but the use of an eight yard skip came in rather handy!!

My good friend Julie came to see me yesterday, and I cried when I saw her. She's lost 98lbs in the past year, and looks fantastic. She has strengthened my resolve to get strong and healthy again. It's been difficult for the past 2 weeks, with packing and assignment writing (I start my new module on 18th February), and healthy anything went out the window. I'm back to work after my annual leave tomorrow, so routine will be back into my day. I get thrown a little without routine, I guess I've picked up some Aspie habits from Doug!!

I'll be in bed again at 9pm at night, getting up and walking Noodles before work. I'm very lucky to have a job I love so much, I'm looking forward to getting back to it, but it can be mentally quite exhausting.

So.....normal serviceshall be resumed tomorrow!!

Janathon days 7 and 8

I'm afraid I only managed to do 20 mins on the elliptical trainer last night, just before going to bed!! (technically still blogged within 24 hours of doing it!!).

Today has been a bit frantic because we put our lovely house up for sale, so the was much hiding things in cupboards and under stairs for the photographs!
Doug and I took Polly out for a brisk and windy walk covering approx 2 miles for my janathon contribution.

Gotta go...will blog properly tomorrow.

Janathon Day 6

A small one with Polly dog this morning. I got us both dressed for the rain which was pelting down when I got up....to find that it had dried up when we got out the door. I spent another couple of minutes getting rid of the coats (hers and mine), and I did a longer loop because I had a bit of time before work, because I'd been super organised with getting breakfast and lunch together. My legs were killing me from the squats I did during the shred DVD, so not very comfortable. The scales have been really spiteful since the start of Janathon, continuing on a upward trend (WTF is that all about??).

Breakfast consisted of a toasted cinnamon and raisin bagel with a banana (must be a green banana not yellow or 'ripe'). Lunch was couscous and mixed salad veg with a tofu hot dog sausage (I love tofu, a recent revelation but I do *heart* it!!).

Scores on the doors 2.1 miles at a sort of 'joggle' type gait

day 5

So up a the trumpet of a sparrows fart again this morning.
I know that Janathon is mostly people running and how far one has run at the end of the month, but I have challenged myself to lose 11lbs before the end of February, but I'd also like to tone up my bingo wings/bum/thighs/tum etc. There's a whole heap jiggling about, and I'm terrified of losing weight and ending up looking like

I decided to give 'Jillean Michaels 30 Day Shred' a go (I have more DVD's than you could wave a pound of fat at!!). I've done it once before and it almost killed me. Jumping jacks are not fun when you smack yourself in the eye with your own boobs!!

25 mins or thereabouts of pushups, star jumps, sit ups, jigging on the spot etc.
I'm done for day 5.

Janathon day 4

Back to work today, therefore I planned ahead last night and got all my bits and bobs out ready to plonk on after a shower. I had set the alarm for an eyeball watering 05:00 to ensure that all calls of nature had been answered before I set off out the door with El Mutt

(This was taken in the summer....not that we're having an unseasonably good spell of sunshine, or it's light here at o6.00!)

I fell over quite alot of things as I stumbled around looking for a better pair of socks and a slightly warmer base layer, grabbed Pollys running lead and headed out. I had intended to just do a once round the block, but ended up doing a 'just a bit longer than a once round the block trying to avoid the hill but not managing'

1.04 miles in 12:11.
not great, but it's a streak saver at least!!

Did the E.T again today because I'm a bit short of time. Last day before I'm back at work, and I still have the best part of a 4,000 word assignment to do before 4th Feb!!! Eeeep!!!

Another great smoothie, banana and blackberries with agave and a shake of cinnamon. I use milk instead of yoghurt/fruit juice, and it makes for a great post effort breakfast. Hubby doing a no point soup (weight watchers 'no points'....not just 'no point in making a soup' no point!!!

Janathon Day 2

I decided to go for the elliptical trainer today because of yesterdays jigglings! I have the E.T set up in the conservatory, so it's easy to hop onto and bash out a few miles.

Stats for today:
7.7 km (or 4.8 miles)
37.02 mins
177 cals
old mp3 player with some great choons.

Photos also taken of front and side views, but I'm not posting them....EVER! I look like the creature from the black lagoon....only lumpier!

Just finishing my cranberry and raspberry smoothie, and am off out with the dog.

Day 1 Janathon

So here we are at the beginning of another year. I felt slightly muzzy after a few too many Vodkas last night, but ready to spank this challenge.
I'd like to combine the challenge with my weight loss, therefore when I blog my activities, I'll also track my intake online. I have taken a photo of the (mean and spiteful) scales this morning after my ablutions, and it's made me even more determined to get a grip. For my weight, I should be 7'6" tall! that can't be done!!! I will post the weightloss evidence at the end of the month.

So for today, I donned my ipod and did day #1 of the c25k. Being a little on the portly side, this proved to be most uncomfortable, and I found the whole thing rather unpleasant.
Result:1.65miles in 22.35. No land speed record, but jogged blogged and logged.

New for 2011

I'm not one for New years resolutions, mostly because I have broken them all by the end of January, and that pisses me off!
Instead, this year, I'm going to write about things I'd like to accomplish by this time next year.

I'm a WW online member, and therefore I would like to keep up my membership for the year, perhaps a goal weightloss of 1lb per week would be do-able.

I'm not going to go on about joining a gym yadayadayada, because I simply won't.....it's daunting enough joining the Janathon (and I suspect knowing me that something will crop up and I'll not finish this either!!)

I must stop sabotaging my attempts to make better choices. I've managed to quit smoking three times, every time going back on them because I convince myself that the world would be an easier place if I smoked!! Of course it wouldn't!!
I've never been one to see something through to the bitter end....next year I'd like to have at least reached one of my goals.

Apart from the whole of January, when I'm going to be checking in every day....I'll do a weekly update here of how things are going, and a monthly stats/photo for comparisons.

Tuesday, 28 December 2010

3 days to go!

So in 3 days time I'll be starting the Janathon. I've charged my ipod and have some funky choons downloaded. I'm looking forward to having something to get me going for a month, and to comment on other peoples blogs too! I'll take my camera with me (I'll HAVE to stop then to take a pic won't I?). Mind you, most of the time it'll be dark because I'll either be running before or after work. I've dusted off my Garmin, but I'll be keeping the route fairly simple so that I can let the dog off for her workout!
I hope evryone else is as excited as me!!

Running

My love of running seemed to have been lost in the time that we were looking after mum and dad in 2008. Don't get me wrong, I would have looked after them forever because it was an honour to do so, however, working full time, assignment writing and going over to see to mum and dad every night....something had to give.
I looked back over my blogs on 'Fetcheveryone' (great site www.fetcheveryone.com) and saw how much my times were coming down, and how I really did enjoy being able to lace up my trainers and grab the dog for a short run. I loved running with my friend Lal, but to run on my own was bliss. I was accountable to no-one but myself. I could run/walk for times that suited ME.

An entry from my blog went like this:
'Went for a short Bimble with Polly, but Doug had ust made a big pot of tea and I've saved some WW points for a kebab tonight, so I kept it short, but I running now I'm not struggling for breath. I don't know how the hell I managed before I quit smoking.

Running no longer seems like a chore, or something to dread (because it used to hurt my lungs so much....I was on inhalers x2 ) and I get time to relax on my own. I never understood it when people said they loved to run alone, but I would feel a bit put out if anyone joined me at the moment!

I actually look forward to it................OMG! Does this mean I have finally found the bug to be bitten by??'

I have to get that feeling back. I really want to run again.

I STS this week, and have been less than angelic on the food front (still within points allocation, but alot of unfilling crap).

*sigh*

Pro Points plan

So I've been back at WW for almost a week, and I must say that I've been hungrier during the day with the Pro Points plan than with the regular old plan. I dunno, perhaps it's me, but a jacket spud costs 8 Pro Points which is a fair few when you only have 29 for the day! However the extra 49 points per week does mean that I can splurge 20 points on a bottle of wine for the weekend, and getting off my arse and walking with El Mutt also lets me save points for a rainy day!

I understand that the US are swapping to this plan tp, only it's called Points Plus over there, so I shall be interested to see what Bitchcakes makes of it (can't wait for her blog on weds).

I'm weighing in on Tuesday morning, so I'll updated then.

Janathon

Ok, so I've signed uo for the Janathon (details here http://www.janathon.com/) in order to get the new year off to a good start. I figured that I would be spending alot of time behind the computer, what with assignment deadlines looming, so I thought I could break it up by activity, photography and blogging! I'm going to restart the C25K as my month of running, taking the doodlemonster with me for company and to provide a much needed distraction. On rest days I'll just toot along on the elliptical trainer.

We're not going out on NYE, so I'll get off to a good start!

Good luck everyone!

November goals #3

So yesterday I took the dog out for 2 decent 40 minute walks, but was probably a bit slower than I should have been. It's like I've got a battle going on between body and mind all the time.
I'm busy at work, but so too are alot of people who manage to get up early and do their workouts, or come home pooped at night and do them.
I think the early mornings are too much to ask my poor body to do at the moment. It seems to be asking for alot of sleep, which I'm more than happy to oblige!

I'm still on the 200lb mark, and I know the only way to get it started again is to get going on the elliptical for 30 mins or so every day. I'd love to go out on my bike, but I'm too damn cold, and goosebumped fat is not pretty!!

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Goals for November #2

Well I've started and mean to keep this up for the whole of next month too.

This morning I have walked Polly for 45 mins at a brisk walk, and I've completed 30 mins on the elliptical trainer too, at varying resistance levels, burning about 170 cals.
I looked at the Shred dvd too, and I figure I need a couple of small hand weights. I'll try and do this on alternate days depending on my start times for work.

Off to Tesco for some shopping for next week.

Goals set for November

Ok, so I've been a bit mojoless for the past month, but I have taken the dog out most mornings and evenings since Doug yoinked his tendon.
I am still in awe of the Heavy Man, and also of Tara (aka http://263andcounting.com/ ) who's blog has made me laugh and cry in equal amounts.
Both of these people plan goals for their journey, and I will do too, one month at a time.

So for November:
Be 195lb by the end of november
Move every day...be it walking the dog, elliptical training or shred
only weigh once per week
Drink more water

Manageable goals....what the heck...I can start today!

Sunday, 26 September 2010

I have worked my backside off this weekend and my feet hurt now!

Poor hubby has yoinked his achilles tendon rather badly, and as a result, he has been put into a below knee cast for the time being. This has caused most everyday activities to become somewhat of a palava!
I'm used to weekends where I do mostly nothing, and Doug spoils me rotten. As you can imagine it all came as rather a shock when I had to do the laundry, the housework, change the hoover bag, sort out the tumble dryer that flatly refused to dry anything, take the dog for her walkies, fit in a session on the eliptical trainer, bake banana bread, sort out my christmas lists etc etc.........

The scales have been teetering on 199.5 lbs, but settling on 200 for the last couple of days, however, with all the extra activity today and yesterday, I hope to have my big fat feet firmly planted in the 100 and something pounds!

The others seem to be doing ok too....roll on thursday!

Tuesday, 14 September 2010

yay!

Ok....I know i shouldn't have, but I peeked on the scales this morning.

It said 200.5 lbs.

I'm almost in onederland!

Eeeeeep!

I didn't post yesterday as too tired, but I stack to the plan

B ; 2 toasted crumpets with jam 4
L : Couscous and chicken salad with no point salad veg 6
D : Spaghetti bolognese (Doug styleee!)7

no snacks today, too busy at work
Today will be like this

B : Oatso simple and milk 3
L : Chicken and couscous salad with no point salad veg 6
D : Pork and pineapple curry with half a pack of Uncle Ben's rice 9

Roll on Thursday!

Sunday, 12 September 2010

Day # 4

Productive day starting early as I'm back to work tomorrow after a 2 week break.

Laundry done, housework done, dinner sorted, dawg walked, breakfast and lunches for week planned, and rebounder ignored! We're having an indian summer which is lovely, but is not condusive to bouncing around the front room clad in lycra!

B : 2 crumpets with lurpack and jam = 4 points
L : small Tesco cheese and tom pizza (with extra tomato, mushroom and ham topping added at home) = 5 points
D : Chicken pot pie with no point veg = 8 points.

I have not weighed in today as I'd like to have a surprise on thursday when Lal and Molly come for their weigh in. I hope they're managing well too.

Saturday, 11 September 2010

day #3 of seriously now!

202.5 nakid this morning. That's 3 lbs since I got home from hols last week. I'm not disappointed with that at all!

I ordered an elliptical trainer to use either before or after work to ramp things up a bit. I've been very lazy lately, but at least this way I can fall out of bed and use the trainer, and then fall straight into the shower, briefly stopping for coffee (decaff natch!) and overnight oats on the way up to the bathroom!

We've got approx 104 days til xmas, so a rough calculation would be 14.5 weeks. Enough time to lose a sensible 2lb per week, equating to 28lbs. That would see me nicely in a size 14 jeans at the dinner table. (Love the jeans in the pic...not mine I am sad to say)

B : wholemeal toast with LF cream cheese, banana and honey = 4 pts
L : Turkey burger (shared with Polpot) cottage cheese, beets, cucumber and tomatoes = 4 pts
D : Chicken casserole with sweet potato, cabbage and petite pois. = 8pts
Treat : ice cream lolly = 5

total 21 points.

Took Dolly for a bimble but no points earnt as too slow!

Over and out!

Thanks jack

I've had to share this from Jack Sh*t as I thought it was so cool!

http://jackfit.blogspot.com/2010/09/heres-to-all-my-crackpot-friends.html

Made me smile alot!

Day #2 of 'seriously this time'

I went out with Lal and molly last night and discussed tactics! They will be following Slimming World, and I will stick with WW.

Interestingly, Lal was asking how food got the better of me.
I've never been one for small portions, and going to boarding school did little for my home economic skills. I never learnt to cook because I didn't have to.
Portion control was a thing that I never got the hang of.
I don't eat when I'm bored/sad/fed up......I eat because I like food! Simple!

A few years ago, Lal and I went to lots of step, pump and yoga classes, and we ran alot too. That all went down the pan when mum became ill in November 2007. Since then I have done nothing, and as a result I have gained 30lbs.
I am struggling to get back in the groove as far as excersise is concerned, because I'm too out of puff!

I've got 4 members of the Lard Lounge, and we will be weighing in on a weekly basis on a thursday evening, and I will post the results here. Meanwhile I will try and blog daily to keep myself motivated.

B : 2 x crumpets with 2 tsp lurpak lighter and 2 tsp home made jam = 4
L : Heinz tomtato soup and a slice of bread = 4.5
D : turkey burgers (home made WW), low fat oven chips 200g and no point salsa = 8
S : banana = 1.5
2.5 litres fluids

Walking into town and back for 40 mins will be my excersise for today.

Thursday, 9 September 2010

Seriously this time

Back from hols and fab it was too!

Lal and Molly came over last night, and we held the first weigh in for Lard Loungers. Time to knuckle down to some serious healthier eating. 207.5 fully clothed, 205.5 in the buff when they had gone!

As stated before I am going to follow weight watchers, and have allocated myself 21 points per day.

I missed breakfast this morning as I was too busy (bad FatKat)but has lunch as follows

L : 40g pasta, 2 LF sausages, cucumber, spring onion, tomatoes, 1tbsp creme fraiche HF, and 1tsp dijon mustard made into a dressing. 6 points total.

I took Noodle pup out for a mimble for an hour and earnt an extra 3 points for today. I also found a really good excel spreadsheet that I will be using to tally things at the end of the day.
First goal is to make it to onederland by next week. Hard work and plenty of walking should see me there.
